NHS Lothian commissioned Heehaw to develop a pilot project to establish the feasibility of an online system to screen symptoms and recommend treatments. The system produced very positive results and ran for 24 months.

Our web team worked closely with doctors and senior consultants in the Physiotherapy Department to construct a web application that used a powerful and flexible advice questionnaire algorithm to provide members of the public with advice and information on knee problems and injuries.

Users would log in and answer a questionnaire, describing the symptoms of their knee problem. Based on this input the algorithm would present treatment options. As part of the treatment aspect of the program, the system integrated with a third party system that contained a range of video clips showing exercises targeted at specific knee problems.
