Sammi

Sammi is a Film-maker, director and Illustrator. She joined our team in the summer of 2020 whilst completing her bachelors in illustration at the University of Edinburgh. After graduating, she has since joined us a full-time member of staff and went on to win Young Designer of the Year at The Scottish Design Awards 2022

Sammi is multi skilled designer with experience in multiple stages of a project including, concept art, visual development, background art, character design, storyboarding, style frames and illustration including file prep for animation. She loves developing and working with vastly diverse styles, creating authentic and diverse characters and planning dynamic, unique shot compositions 

She is also experienced in directing, having lead a variety of projects across her time at Heehaw. They range from a professional and technical animation for the AWS about water stewardship to a bold, eye-catching animation showing an mind-blowing food adventure for Lee Kum Kee to promote their brand in conjunction with Chinese New Year. 

Outside of work, Sammi is also a passionate film-maker, with a love for telling personal stories, striving to make relatable and beautiful animated films that audiences can emotionally connect to. She wrote, directed, storyboarded and designer her first personal film, Making Mountains in 2023 which was inspired by her personal experiences with anxiety and her many attempts at explaining her anxious brain.
